Not every couples session is an engagement session :) In fact, you shouldn't need a reason to have some nice photos taken of the two of you :) It doesn't even need to be a special occasion...Tuesday is a good occasion :) Photos don't always need to be about the kids or about an occasion. They're a good way to celebrate your relationship and get in a little quality bonding time on your own. Think of it like a date. You remember what those are, right? :) I was pretty excited when Nicole suggested Buttertubs Marsh here in Nanaimo for their session. I had never been there before at all so I was pretty stoked to see what I was would have to work with. I really enjoyed shooting in this location and am looking forward to going back there with some future clients!
The light was fading pretty quickly by the time we got there so I ended up going for a bit of a different look and feel with their photos. I used some artificial light and keep it dark and dramatic to try to get some of the color in the sunset. It's hard to believe now but it was actually pretty cold out when we were there lol I promised to keep the session short and sweet so that nobody ended up freezing their butt off and we actually wrapped up fairly quickly. Of course, the advantage to shooting in colder weather is that there's lots of snuggling together to keep warm, which these two did lots of.
