This is another chapter in the Adventures of Tanya & Jessica: Urban Beauty Photography edition!
Jessica of Jessica Boyd Photography & I were having coffee one day and decided that we needed to shoot something fun. Not that photography as a job isn't fun most of the time, but we wanted something a little different and needed a little more time to experiment with it. We didn't really have a clear concept in mind except that we wanted to test out some different than usual lighting techniques and work on some posing. Jessica & I both have our strengths & weaknesses in both areas and part of being a professional photographer is always learning, growing & updating our skills, which is where these practice sessions come in handy. This time Geoff decided that he wanted to try his hand shooting instead of assisting so that made the whole thing even more exciting! The next step was finding some willing subjects that wouldn't mind standing around in the cold for a few hours :) Luckily, when I put the call out in a local amateur photographer & modeling group to come out and help us create some urban beauty photography, I had plenty of interest with lots of people willing to be our guinea pigs :)
The lovely Rachel was kind enough to volunteer to pose for me when I needed a muse :) I've really been trying to push myself out of my comfort zone with my shooting and wanted to try something a little darker than usual. I let Rachel do her thing with her choice of poses, only giving guidance if I wanted something a little different. Poor Rachel was so cold but extremely patient with me while I worked my way through some lighting challenges and the whole creative experimenting process. In the end, we did create some gorgeous urban beauty portraits :)
